Developing learner confidence
Success in any form, be it in life or in the classroom, depends on confidence. It’s an essential ingredient but one that many learners lack. In this workshop, we'll look at ways to help all learners develop confidence in using English. Real confidence is built on solid foundations and we’ll be examining the use of learning objectives, reflective tasks and the flexible use of materials to meet our learners’ individual needs and empower them to succeed.
Elizabeth Beer has been teaching for 14 years in various places such as Vietnam, Hong Kong and Spain. She's a Cambridge Examiner and a Teacher Trainer. She enjoys creating her own materials and lessons and has a particular interest in pronunciation, literacy and speaking skills in class.
In one ear and out the other? Deconstructing listening
Isn’t listening a piece of cake? You press play, do the questions, check the answers and move on to something productive! In this session we’ll delve much deeper. What specific skills do our students need to develop to become good listeners, both for exams and in general? What activities lend themselves to the development of these skills? Let’s find out.
