Every child matters: mixed ability at Primary
Help! There’s such a range of abilities in my class! How can I challenge my stronger students without the weaker ones getting left behind? Primary teachers know every child matters, but it’s sometimes difficult to attend to every child in a heterogeneous class. This practical session will propose strategies and activities which foster civic competence, build self-esteem and allow ALL students to reach their own potential.

We all want our pupils to become more independent and responsible for their learning, but this won’t happen without the right support. Enter assessment for learning! In this practical session we will consider how best to approach target-setting, feedback, self and peerassessment in the primary classroom, all with the aim of empowering learners and raising standards.

Hands-on tasks in the CLIL classroom
Task-based work shifts the focus of the learning process to skills development (“know-how”) rather than acquiring more information (“know-what”). In this session we look at ways of organizing tasks into a series of steps with clear objectives. We will discuss a range of outcomes and look at the type of work that children can produce to activate their skills and knowledge.
