TALK
Making and seeing real progress at speaking
Most teachers, and students for that matter, have a pretty good idea of which students in the class are better at speaking. But beyond general impressions what does it mean to ‘be’ at a certain level in speaking? What skills do our students need to develop in order to improve? Attendees will leave this session not only with some key principles to bear in mind when teaching speaking at different levels but also with a range of practical classroom activities to use in their lessons to help their students make and see progress.
Michael Brand is a Teacher Trainer for Pearson. A passionate linguist, he studied French and German at Durham University, followed by a PGCE in Modern Languages. Having taught in England and Spain, he has experience in the public, private and state-assisted sectors and has taught young learners and teens. He now spends his time training teachers on all things ELT and his interests include collaborative learning and the creative use of video.
TALK
Taking off from the intermediate plateau
Many learners encounter problems when moving from Intermediate (B1) to Upper Intermediate (B2) levels of language proficiency. They struggle to perceive their language progress and often feel frustrated.
This workshop will look at strategies and activities to highlight ways to help your learners take off from the Intermediate plateau.
